Energy science project

Investigation.

Research the following Biomass fuels. You will need to:

Write a definition of the fuel.
Write 8 sentences about the fuel.
  • How is it made?
  • Where is it made?
  • What is it made with?
  • What countries use it?
  • What uses will it have in the future?
Place 1 image of the fuel.

Biomass Fuel types.

Name: Agricultural crops and wood fuels.
Definition:
the science or practice of farming, including cultivation of the soil for the growing of crops and the rearing of animals to provide food, wool, and other products.

  • How is it made?grown
  • Where is it made?New Zealand
  • What is it made with? gas
  • What countries use it? Russia , United States of America and New Zealand
  • What uses will it have in the future?  it is better to use fast-growing plantation

Image result for manure

Name: Animal waste.
Definition:
food they have eaten and produced into manure/poo
Research:Over time, bacteria convert the manure from solid waste into liquid waste, which produces methane gas.

Image result for bio gas

Name: Bio gas
Definition:
gaseous fuel, especially methane, produced by the fermentation of organic matter.
Research: Bio Gas is produced by agricultural waste, manure, municipal waste, plant material, sewage, green waste or food waste.

Image result for bio fuels

Name: Bio fuels
Definition:
a fuel derived immediately from living matter.
Research:Ethanol is produced from biomass mostly via a fermentation process using glucose derived from sugars
On an industrial scale, methanol is predominantly produced from natural gas by reforming the gas with steam and then converting and distilling the resulting synthesised gas mixture.
