Yesterday was actually fun during the day I was watching movies with my little sister Aj having some one on one time with her then at night we were watching movies as a family having no social media on and just watching movies. I am hopeing that lock down finishes sooner the later. Its been a very tough situation and it gets a little bit crowded in your own house when you are constantly there. This blog post is just a reminder to stay strong and don't forget that it will end at some point.
I am a student at in Uru Mānuka. In 2020 I was a year 9 and in 2021 I will be a year 10. This is a place where I will be able to share my learning with you. Please note....some work won't be edited - just my first drafts, so there may be some surface errors. I would love your feedback, comments, thoughts and ideas.

Ideas For Things To Do Over Lock Down
Hello everyone welcome back to my blog.
Its been awhile since I last posted but I've been up to some things over this stressful time.
This Covid 19 has put a lot of people in stress and not many people are coping well with the lock down so I'm going to be giving you some ideas on what you could get up to over the time being.
Doing some of those things could not only keep you fit and healthy and keep your personal hygiene up but at least your having fun and not worrying about stuff.
Its been awhile since I last posted but I've been up to some things over this stressful time.
This Covid 19 has put a lot of people in stress and not many people are coping well with the lock down so I'm going to be giving you some ideas on what you could get up to over the time being.
- if you have a pet dog or any pet for that matter go outside and have fun with it because it could make you smile the brightest
- if your a very active human being then go for a run around your block or go for a bike ride and do some exercise
- work out if you want

- watch movies with your family and have some family time

- call your mates and talk to them and ask how they are going and talk to them about your plans after lock down

- and lastly do some baking and have fun while doing it

Doing some of those things could not only keep you fit and healthy and keep your personal hygiene up but at least your having fun and not worrying about stuff.
It has been a very rough situation for everyone so if we all stay positive and stay at homes and only leave for certain purposes the lock down could stop sooner then later.
There will always be darkness in this world but if we work together there WILL be light again.
WE CAN DO THIS TOGETHER!

What I think about being a year 9 next year
Next year I will be becoming a year 9 in Hornby High School and so far im pretty nervous.
Being a year 8 is pretty hard but now that I think about it being a year 9 means more responsibility and a lot more work to do. Being a year 8 has been a challenging road so far
and I have learnt so many things over the past two years at this school but now that it's only a few more days it gets a little more tough to think what it's gonna be like next year because there has already been so much stuff going on right now it’s like the days have gone past like a wave at a beach.
Negative side of being a year 9 next year would be a lot more studying and a lot more class to go back a forward from. Also the amount of people that think your still a year 7/8 only because of your height or the way you look.
Good side of being a year 9 next year is that there are so many more opportunities that you can do and so many more things you can accomplish just by not giving up on yourself. I have given up on myself so many times this year and without my friends being there for me I wouldn’t be here right now my friends gave me happiness when there was only sadness,my friends gave me light when there was only darkness. My friends have done so much for me so I am so glad that I have them by my side, otherwise I would never be able to do the stuff that I want to do in life. I have already chosen my subjects that I am wanting to do and I think they can take me certain places in life.
I guess what I'm trying to say here is that I kinda am excited that I'm gonna be a year 9 next year but im also pretty nervous for the things that could make a lot of challenges but challenges are good in life, especially in school.
I would say that the biggest challenge in year 9 would be studying my oldest sister went to this school and became a prefect at year 13 and she told me that year 9 is one of the hardest years of them all apart from year 11 year 12 and year 13 but she has made sure that I stay on the right track as her.
My dad would probably be my biggest supporters and he has taught me so much stuff and I hope that by the end of next year I can make him so proud of me and make him even more happy that im his daughter. My dad is my best friend and in fact he is my hero he has supported me through so many tough times and we have gone through so much together and I'm so happy hes my dad.
I have gone through a lot of stuff this year as in referrals and suspensions but I know that every single one of them I have learnt from the mistake and I am sure that I can prevent them from happening again if I try hard enough. I also know that if I try hard enough to be the best me I can do anything I put my mind to and that I can have even more things that I accomplish.
If I could do anything in the world to redo this year I would but all my mistakes allow me to learn from them.

My holiday fun
These holidays were so fun. I have just come back from the holidays and i'm already to see my friends again.
In the first week of the holidays on a Wednesday I went to willow bank for the whole day and it was so fun I got to feed all the farm animals , the fish and the eels. When I was feeding the eels there was this one eel that would pounce out of the water and try and steal the food from the spoon. As we moved on we saw about five family's of ducks and it was so adorable. Each time we went past a big bird my sister and my dads girlfriend would start screaming because they thought that the bird would attack them so my dad and I would have to be a shield for them so that they wouldn't be scared I thought it was kinda funny how they thought that a bird would just randomly attack them.
four days after we went to willow bank Alla , Dani , my dad and I went to Akoroa and went to go see the Akaroa ferry but sadly we didn't get to see it because it had already took off but we did get to go down by the beach and skimmed some stones on the top of the water. I finally learnt how to skim a rock. after we did that we went down by a fish and chip shop that also sold hot chocolates and all types of coffee and milkshakes. I got one hot chocolate and one scoop of chips. we than headed off to go back home but stopped off at this beach that was very dangerous but very beautiful at the same time. the waves there were so big you could almost surf them if the beach wasn't dangerous.
We then took off to go back home but we were stopped again because my dad had this amazing idea to go catch some geckos. We then started to go hunting for some geckos. We didn't take them home with us our dog would probably eat it. We did catch some geckos but we didn't catch it by it's tail.

Facts about animals
Two days ago Sh and Ts went to Orana Park and each animal we saw we learnt some facts.
Here are some facts that we all learnt about the animals...
- Giraffes have 3-4 stomachs
- Giraffes fight with their necks in fact some giraffes break their necks by fighting
- A giraffes kick can kill an animal by its kick such as lion/lioness
- When a lion gets fixed it will not grow a main
- Markats always have someone on guard to see if there is any danger
- ONLY the alpha male and alpha female merkats can have babies and if any other merkat has babies the mother gets kicked out and the alpha male and alpha female kill the baby
- White rhinos were named vight rhinos but an English man said white rhinos
- Rhinos use anything to shape their horns so they don't grow down
- When a cheetah is sleeping a lion/lioness will steal its food
- There is only one more black rhino in the world
- The colder the temperature is the more lizards there are, the hotter the temperature is the more male lizards there are
I liked going to Orana Park because I got to see animals I don't see in my everyday life.
I also liked learning all these new facts about all these different animals it was amazing.
Here are some facts about what climate change can do to some animals...
Here are some facts about what climate change can do to some animals...
- With the Rhino's because they always eat grass if climate change destroys the earth that means there will be no water going on the plants which means no grass so all rhino's will die out
- If deforestation continues giraffes will have no trees to eat off
- The hotter the earth gets the more male lizards there will be and soon there will only be male lizards in the world and they will all die out because they can not reproduce more lizards if there are no more females
- Gorillas love to eat plants and climb trees but if all the trees die because of no water of we break them down then they won't have much food to eat and they won't have fun in their lives
- With the Kea's people are feeding them junk food like their donut that fell on the ground and fish'n chips which can kill them but also will teach them to just fly over to some humans and they will give you some food but if no one gives them food they won't know how to feed themselves and they will die because of lack of food
I would say the 3 things I enjoyed about the trip was
Seeing the animals,
Being outside with the nice sun on my skin with the wind on my face,
And learning new facts I never knew about all these different animals and how the world is affecting their life.
Here are some photos of us at Orana Park...

Our New Kahui's
This Monday which was two days ago the year 7 and 8 class's moved into their Kahui. Sh and Ts are now in the same class which is definitely a change. Sh and Ts are in the far one right next to the auditorium so when there is a Hui or junior assembly we won't have to be late and we could be the first class there.
Each Kahui has it's own name they are...
Mohua , Riroriro , Tieke
Our one is Tieke.
When I walked into our new building I saw...
A lot more light in all the rooms than I normally see in a classroom. In my old classroom the only light was from the lights but now the main light in all the Kahui's is from the sun itself.
When I walked into our new building I thought...
That everything looked the same it was hard to remember where about's all my class's were. there were so many things to see in this new building. Now that I am in the new Kahui it's a lot more different and a lot more big than my old classroom.
When I walked into our new building I felt...
A lot less bunched up in this small classroom. For me I can't be in a room with too much people but now that we have moved into a bigger and brighter classroom I can feel a lot more free to breath and not think about the amount of people in the room.
I think that the down side of these Kahui's is that the amount of electricity in each room such as the amount of lights and the amount of T-V's in each room. In my classroom there are three T-Vs and 15 lights.
What I like about these new Kahui's is that for the T-V's there are lights at the back of each T-V.
I also like how at the front of the Kahui's there is a massive play area for everyone to hangout. There is this massive grass area that has a small hill that you could roll down if you get board. I normally hangout on the courts but now that all the Kahui's and play area are open me and my friend's all hangout in the new play area just next to the small hill.
I think that it took just around 6 - 7 months to finish the play area and the Kahui's.
The process of it all was spectacular and to me was kinda going slow but now I think that it finished just in time for the school holidays so who ever was building this are able to have some fun with friends and family over the holidays instead of doing work.

Than and Now
9 years ago I was this little girl dreaming of
being a mermaid princess.
I thought of the ocean water in my face and all the
sea creatures talking to me and me talking back.
I loved
plants mainly hydrangeas flowers. I loved climbing
trees and looking above at the sun as it shone in
my bright blues eyes. The rivers and lakes clear as rain drops. Animals
enjoying the fresh air and living happily ever after
New animals being found that no one new before.
That was all about to end…..
I soon see plants dying in the garden, trees dying
right in front of me.
I always thought life would be a miracle.
I thought life would be a place of peace.
Trees and plants is not the start there is a lot more….
Heat waves start and destroy everything Storms
start destroying houses no cities. Animals start dying.
Deforestation begins and never ends. Rubbish destroys the ocean and kills animals.
Pollution in the air. Kids dying of diseases. No clean water.
It's like we are the devils of this earth that are destroying everything and making it a living hell.
We can make a change if we try hard enough.
“We love the world”
“Save the turtles”
“We can make a change”
I hear all of those sentences everyday but no one saves the turtles, no one helps other people love the world , no one tries to make a change,
I have had enough of sitting on the bench watching
everybody litter, everybody sit and watch people die and
animals die. Let's make a change, I'm 13 years old and I will make a change I will try
everything in me to make a change here's hoping
you are ready to make a change with me.
Kids are wanting to live up to their dreams they can’t
if the world ends, they can’t if humanity dies out.
Work together.
I don’t just believe in myself but I believe in every single one of you.
My Nana once told me to keep on smiling because
one day it will shine brighter than a star well if we work
together our hard work could save the earth.
